“But your stories are not mainstream, and also there’s a lot of competition out there. It’s the same with painting – you either need a sponsor or a lot of luck, otherwise you just become one of the crowd.”

“Whatever, I’m not giving up,” I said with utter determination, hastily picking up stones, as though I had something to prove. Zoe didn’t stop dreaming, though. “Well, if I were in your shoes, I’d rather stay here in the countryside and paint, maybe sell a few pieces online from time to time, but mainly just relax and meditate.”

She threw down the stones she had picked, and sprawled on the grass.

“Are you tired already?” I asked in disbelief. “Come on, we need to make the fire ring to cook dinner.”

“Why bother? Let’s just eat it raw,” suggested Zoe.
